Ordering & Installing Your Shades
The time to order your shades is Now!
Delivery can take six to eight weeks from the time we receive your confirmed order and deposit.
We always receive calls for shades as soon as the winter snows begin to fall...
We're ready to assist you! The precise measuring instructions included below will provide us
with the information we need in order to begin scheduling your shades. If you're comfortable
with these instructions, please proceed! However, initial dimensions, if only fairly accurate,
are fine for estimates. Prices are not likely to change once overall dimensions are "roughed
in." Send us your info (digital photos help) and we'll begin!
Measurement Instructions: Accurate dimensions are critical! All dimensions listed must be
accurate to within 1/8". Do not assume that several windows nearly identical are in fact so.
A shade made for one window that measures 42 3/8" wide is not interchangeable with one
made for a window that measures 42 1/2"!
Always measure width first (top and bottom, record the largest), length second (left and
right, record the longest). Record your measurements in inches only, not feet and inches.
Write down the location of each shade in relation to the room or building. We will label each
shade based on how we receive your information. Avoid confusion by listing the location correctly.
Note whether your headrail will be 1 1/2" or 1 1/4" (the most common) and whether the cord
will pull to the right or the left.
Calculating the area of each shade is easier than you may think. Multiply width x height and
divide by 144 to get the area in square feet. (Note – while it is important to list each
dimension to 1/8" rounding up to the nearest 1/4" for area calculations is acceptable.)
42 5/8 x 73 1/4 42.75 x 73.25 = 3131.43 / 144 = 21.74 sq. ft. Round up - 22 sq. ft.!
That's all there is to it!
Please Note: While we will work with you in order to ensure your shades are manufactured
to your complete satisfaction, we can not be held responsible for inaccurate measurements.
More often than not installation is easy and straightforward. By the time we've finalized your manufacturing dimensions we'll know what your requirements are and will have addressed them thoroughly with you.
Complete installation instructions will be provided with your shades, and we have expert counsel available for you should that be necessary. Typical hand tools are all that is usually required to install HeatSaver®.
It isn't often that we have the privilege and challenge of installing trapezoidal shades twenty feet off the floor, as we did in this home west of Denver in 1985, but we welcome the opportunity to do so!

In December of 2009 the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall by the manufacturers of roller shade and roman shade products due to safety concerns for infants and small children. While HeatSaver's® design limits the probability of such hazards, we are concerned. Let us know if small children could be in the vicinity of your shades so we can address this issue with you!
